Many people, especially males, tend to overestimate their abilities in many of the things they do. Kayaking is no different.
In my last career, I worked along side a fair amount of "super egos", especially the younger guys. The real bad asses were the guys in their 30s+ 40s who had been around the block a few times. In that world, training, maturity, and experience made for a strong link in the chain. In that world, you are educated quickly on the failings of ego...........
In the kayaking world ego can also kill. Understanding the dangers of your environment is only one of many things people fail to educate themselves on.
